IPRoyal Review 2026: (Safe to Use?) My Opinion

Most proxy providers make you commit before you know whether their IPs work for your target site. Buy 20GB, watch half of it die against Cloudflare, discover the rest expires at the end of the month.

IPRoyal built its business on the opposite deal: buy one gigabyte, and it never expires. That single policy is why this IPRoyal review ends where it does. Here is what the proxies are actually like, what the pricing really costs once you read past the headline figure, and where IPRoyal loses to the big networks. New to this? Quick verdict

IPRoyal is the best entry point in the proxy market, and that is a narrower compliment than it sounds. Non-expiring traffic and a one gigabyte minimum mean you can test properly for under ten dollars, which no enterprise provider will let you do. The IPs are solid for scraping, ad verification, SEO monitoring and sneaker drops. Push into serious volume and you will notice the pool is smaller and the tooling thinner than Bright Data.

Best for: solo developers, small agencies and anyone whose proxy usage is irregular, because unused traffic sits there until you need it.

Not ideal for: high-volume enterprise scraping, and anyone who needs a real free trial before paying. IPRoyal does not offer one.

The pricing model is the actual product

Every proxy provider quotes you a headline per-gigabyte rate that only applies if you buy in bulk. IPRoyal is no different: the $1.75 per GB you see advertised needs a substantial purchase. Buy a single gigabyte and you pay around $7.35, dropping to about $6.25 at 2GB and $5.51 at 10GB.

So why does it still win on cost? The traffic never expires. Almost every rival sells you a monthly allowance that vanishes on renewal day. If your scraping is seasonal, project-based or just unpredictable, you are paying for gigabytes you throw away. IPRoyal charges more per gigabyte at the low end and less per gigabyte you actually use.

Here is the honest maths. If you burn 50GB every month without fail, a subscription provider is cheaper. If you burn 50GB across a year in three bursts, IPRoyal wins outright.

The proxy types, and which one you actually need

Residential proxies route through real home connections, so target sites see ordinary consumer traffic. This is the type you want for anything that fights back: ticketing, retail, streaming, social platforms. It is also the most expensive per gigabyte. ISP proxies are static residential addresses hosted in data centres. You get residential trust with datacenter speed and a fixed IP that does not rotate. From $1.80 per proxy, these are the sweet spot for account management and anything needing a persistent session. Datacenter proxies from $1.39 each are fast, cheap and unlimited on bandwidth, and any competent anti-bot system spots them instantly. Use them for undefended targets, internal testing and bulk work where blocks do not matter.

Mobile proxies start at $117 a month. They carry carrier-grade NAT addresses shared by thousands of real phone users, which makes them the hardest type to block and the most expensive to run. Only buy these if residential has already failed you.

Where the residential IPs come from

This section is missing from most IPRoyal reviews and it matters more than the feature list.

Residential proxy networks need real home connections, and they get them by paying people to share bandwidth. IPRoyal runs its own app for this, called Pawns, which pays users to route third-party traffic through their internet connection. That is a transparent, opt-in model, and it is a good deal better than the SDKs that get bundled into free mobile apps where nobody reads the consent screen.

Why you should care: if a provider cannot tell you where its IPs come from, your scraping traffic may be running through someone who never agreed to it. That is a legal and reputational problem you inherit. IPRoyal being open about Pawns is a genuine point in its favour.

Buying and setting up your first proxy

Signup wants your name, email, address and company details, which is more friction than most and one of the more common complaints about the service. Verification is quick after that.

From the dashboard you pick a product, hit create new order, and choose your quantity. Residential is priced per gigabyte, everything else per proxy per month.

Once the order clears, set your location, rotation behaviour and session type, then copy the credentials into your scraper, browser or automation tool. Sticky sessions hold an IP for a set duration; rotating sessions give you a fresh one per request.

Real-world tip: start with a rotating session and only move to sticky if your target breaks on IP changes. Sticky sessions burn traffic faster because failed requests retry on the same address.

Where IPRoyal falls short

There is no self-serve free trial. Older reviews of IPRoyal, ours included, claimed a 30-day money-back guarantee. That is not what the current policy says. Residential refunds are granted only in limited circumstances, and datacenter and ISP proxies come with a short replacement or refund window if they fail on arrival. Buy 1GB as your test rather than relying on getting money back.

The pool is mid-sized. 64 million residential IPs is a real network, and it is well short of what the largest providers advertise. On heavily defended targets at high concurrency you will hit repeat addresses sooner.

Signup is heavy. Company details and a full address to buy one gigabyte feels like a lot.

Tooling is thinner than the enterprise players. Web Unblocker is a good addition, but there is no equivalent of the deep dataset products, browser APIs and compliance tooling that Bright Data sells. If your legal team asks detailed questions, you will notice the difference.

Mobile pricing is steep. $117 a month is fine for a business, painful for a solo developer testing an idea.

IPRoyal against the bigger networks

Our recommendation: test on IPRoyal because it is the cheapest way to find out whether residential proxies solve your problem at all.
