Canva added a full set of nudge, rotate and resize shortcuts, and they’re the biggest practical change since this list was first written. Precise positioning no longer needs the mouse at all.

Shortcuts that no longer exist
If you’re working from a 2023 cheat sheet, three entries will fail on you. The loop video shortcut is gone. So is comment cycling with N and Shift + N, along with Ctrl + 5 to focus a comment. Canva replaced that last one with Alt + Ctrl + J, which jumps to the comment attached to whatever you’ve selected.
Text justify also moved. Shift + Ctrl + J now justifies elements, not paragraph text.
Can you remap them?
No, and that’s a genuine limitation. Canva has no shortcut editor in either the web app or the desktop builds, and no way to disable a binding that clashes with something else you use. If a key conflict is costing you time, a system-level remapper is the only route, and it’s a heavy fix for a small problem.

Frequently asked questions
Can I customise keyboard shortcuts in Canva?
No. Canva has no shortcut editor in the browser or the desktop apps, and no way to disable an individual binding. The only workaround is a system level remapper such as PowerToys on Windows or Karabiner on macOS, which is usually more trouble than the problem is worth.
Why has the loop video shortcut stopped working?
Because Canva removed it. The video section of the Help Centre now lists only Space for play and pause and M for mute. Older cheat sheets still show Option or Alt with Command and L for looping, and that combination no longer does anything.
Do Canva shortcuts work the same in the browser and the desktop app?
The design shortcuts do. The tab and window shortcuts do not, because a browser claims combinations like Ctrl + T and Ctrl + W before Canva ever sees them. Install the desktop app if you want the full set.
How do I move an element by exactly a small amount?
Select it and press an arrow key for a small step, or hold Shift with an arrow key for a bigger one. Add Ctrl or Command to the arrow keys to resize instead of move, and use Alt or Option with the comma and full stop keys to rotate.
Why do single letter shortcuts like T and R type instead of adding a shape?
Because a text box has focus. Canva treats every keystroke as typing while you are inside text. Press Escape or click on empty canvas first, then T, R, C and L will add elements again.
Are Canva shortcuts different on Windows and Mac?
The layout matches. Command replaces Ctrl and Option replaces Alt across almost the whole list. The exceptions sit in the desktop app section, where window management follows each operating system rather than Canva.
Does Canva have shortcuts on the mobile app?
No. The Android and iOS apps are touch first with no keyboard shortcut support, even with an external keyboard attached. Everything on this page applies to Canva in a desktop browser or the installed desktop app.
