Your AI agent can post to Instagram through an MCP server. Nice. Now the real question: what does this cost with 40 client accounts plugged in?
Count accounts the usual way, and your Zernio pricing estimate can land at less than half the real bill.
We publish our own Instagram carousels through Zernio. So we read the pricing page, billing docs and API rate limits line by line.
The monthly number is simple. The usage credits, and one X charge most people miss, are where it gets interesting.
What does Zernio pricing look like in real dollars?
Zernio charges per connected social account, per month. The first 2 are free, accounts 3 to 10 cost $6 each, 11 to 100 cost $3, and the rest cost $1.
That’s the whole rate card for publishing. There are no plans, no seats and no feature tiers. A free account gets the same publishing, analytics, inbox, ads and full API access as account number 5,000.
The ladder is graduated, like tax brackets. Each rate applies only to the accounts inside its band. Your 11th account costs $3, and the first ten stay exactly where they were.

Here’s what that ladder adds up to, using the example bills on Zernio’s official pricing page (prices checked September 2026):
| Connected accounts | Monthly total | Average per account |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | $0 | $0 |
| 10 | $48 | $4.80 |
| 20 | $78 | $3.90 |
| 100 | $318 | $3.18 |
| 1,000 | $1,218 | $1.22 |
One oddity worth knowing. A FAQ answer on the same page says $6/account for 1-10. The rate table, the docs and every example bill agree it’s accounts 3 to 10, because the first two are free. Trust the table.
So the rate card is easy. Counting to 10 is the hard part.
Why one client can count as three accounts
One connected profile on one platform is one account. An Instagram account, a Facebook Page, a YouTube channel and a TikTok account each count once.
That sounds obvious until you list what else connects:
- Ad accounts count like posting accounts. A Facebook Page, its Instagram account and the Meta ad account behind them are 3 accounts.
- Blog sites count too. Each WordPress site or Shopify store you connect through the Blogs API is one account.
- WhatsApp numbers count once each. The SMS and voice features on a number don’t add more.
- Profiles are free. A profile groups one client’s accounts, and it holds at most one account per platform. Want a second Instagram account? Create another profile. It costs nothing.
- Your whole team shares one count. Accounts connected by invited members roll up to the owner’s bill.
Zernio’s own docs give an agency example. Picture 4 client profiles, each with a Facebook Page, an Instagram account and a Meta ad account. That’s 12 accounts, and the month costs $54, not the $12 you’d guess from 4 clients.

Common mistake: quoting clients a flat per-brand fee before you count platforms. Ten clients on Facebook, Instagram and Meta Ads is 30 accounts, which is $108 a month, not $48.
And if you swap a profile’s Instagram for a different Instagram account? Zernio replaces the old connection and deletes that slot’s analytics, inbox and DM history. Create a new profile instead.
Where do usage credits fit in?
Zernio doesn’t sell credit packs. The only credit is a flat $12 a month covering your first 2 accounts. Everything else is metered in plain dollars.
Why $12? It’s 2 accounts at the $6 rate. The catch is that it only applies to the connected-accounts line. Four meters bill from the first unit, even on the free tier: X calls, phone numbers, extra messages and extra ads.
Then there’s proration. Zernio doesn’t bill accounts. It bills account-days:
- It records every account connected each UTC day, for days 1 to 30 of the month.
- It divides the total account-days by 30 to get billable units.
- It runs those units through the $6, $3 and $1 bands.
- It subtracts the $12 credit. Tax, where it applies, goes on top.
The billing docs walk through a real month. Ten accounts run all month, an 11th joins for a week, and a 12th arrives for the final week. That’s 314 account-days, or 10.467 units. Gross is $61.40, and after the credit the invoice is $49.40.

Two side effects are worth knowing. A 31-day month still bills 30 days, and February bills a little under a full month. Your first charge also comes early. Zernio bills your card once accrued usage hits a fraud-check threshold, which starts at $10 and doubles each time.
Want to check the math yourself? The API’s usage endpoint returns spend by product, with the credit shown as a negative line. You’ll need your key in a Bearer header, which our guide to API authentication explains.
Which charges sit outside the account fee?
Four things meter on top of accounts: messages you send, ads you manage, X API calls and phone services. Most small setups never touch the first two.
| Meter | Free each month | Price after that |
|---|---|---|
| Messages you send (DMs, broadcasts) | 10,000 per team | $1 per 10,000 |
| Managed ads (running or in review) | 500 active ads | $0.01 per active ad |
| X (Twitter) API | None | $0.005 per read, $0.015 per post, $0.20 per post with a link |
| Phone number | None | From $3 a month (US: $3) |
| iMessage sender | None | $200 a month, $0 per message |
Remember the X charge from the intro? Here it is.
X bills per API call, and Zernio passes those costs through at X’s rates with no markup. A plain post costs $0.015. A post with a link costs $0.20. Share 60 blog links a month on X and that’s $12, before analytics reads at $0.005 each.

You can set a monthly X spend cap in the dashboard. At 80% you get a warning email, and at 100% X analytics and inbox polling pause for the rest of the month. X analytics and inbox sync are opt-in anyway, so leave them off if you only publish.
The message meter is newer. As of October 2026, sent messages count, and anything you send before then is counted but never billed. Received messages, comment replies and review replies are always free. A broadcast bills per recipient, so one send to 5,000 people uses half your allowance.
Ads are refreshingly simple. There’s no cut of your ad spend. A $5-a-day ad and a $5,000-a-day ad both cost one cent a month to manage, and paused ads cost nothing.
WhatsApp is the odd one out. Meta bills template messages and its call fees straight to your WhatsApp Business Account, not through Zernio.
Does paying more buy you a faster API?
No plan unlocks features, but your request limit grows with your account count. You get 60 requests a minute free, 600 from 3 to 2,000 accounts, and 1,200 past that.
| Connected accounts | Requests per minute | Analytics requests per second |
|---|---|---|
| 0 to 2 (free) | 60 | 6 |
| 3 to 2,000 | 600 | 10 |
| 2,001 and up | 1,200 | 20 |
Posting stays unlimited, with guardrails so the networks don’t flag you. Each account can publish 25 posts an hour. Daily caps sit at 100 posts for Instagram and Facebook, 250 for Threads, 50 for X and 25 for Pinterest. TikTok allows 15 videos plus 15 photos, and other networks get 50 (source: Zernio rate limits).
Is 60 requests a minute enough? For a solo scheduler or an n8n workflow that posts a few times a day, easily. A customer-facing dashboard that pulls analytics on every page load needs the 600. You get it the moment you connect a third account.
Our take: the free tier isn’t a demo. It’s the same API with a lower request ceiling, which makes it a real place to build before you pay a cent.
Can you get a refund, an annual deal or a coupon?
There’s no annual plan, no public coupon and no refund for usage, except where the law requires one.
That’s less harsh than it sounds. You’re billed for what you used, with no prepaid year to lose.
Zernio’s terms call fees non-refundable. Its pricing FAQ adds that a billing error or outage on their side gets your account credited. You stop charges by disconnecting accounts, and there are no setup fees, contracts or cancellation fees.
- Trial: not needed. The 2 free accounts don’t expire and don’t ask for a card.
- Payment: Visa, Mastercard and American Express through Stripe. Enterprise customers can get invoices on net-30 or net-60 terms.
- Coupons: none published when we checked. Zernio’s referral program pays the referrer, and it doesn’t advertise any discount for you.
If you sign up through our link, we may earn a commission. Your price stays exactly the same.
Zernio vs Ayrshare vs Buffer: who’s cheaper for your setup?
For API work, Zernio starts cheaper: $0 for 2 accounts against Ayrshare’s $149-a-month Premium plan. The two count differently, though, and that changes the math.
Ayrshare bills per profile, meaning one brand connected to as many networks as it likes. Zernio bills per platform connection. Take 10 clients, each on Facebook, Instagram and Meta Ads.
On Zernio that’s 30 accounts, or $108 a month. On Ayrshare it’s 10 profiles, which fits the $299 Launch plan.
Flip it around and Ayrshare catches up. A brand posting to a dozen networks is still one Ayrshare profile but 12 Zernio accounts. Most agencies sit nearer three networks per client, where Zernio wins clearly.
Buffer is a different animal: a polished scheduling app with an API bolted on. It charges per channel, from $5 a month per channel on Essentials billed yearly. Its free plan caps you at 3 channels and 3,000 API requests a month. If you want a calendar rather than an API, our Buffer coupons page shows how to pay less for it.

Ayrshare’s boosted-ads tool is a $100 add-on on its Business plan, and Buffer’s pricing page lists comment replies but no paid-ads tools. Prices for all three were checked September 2026 on their official pages.
Which Zernio setup fits you?
Match your situation to the line below, and you’ll know your monthly number before you connect anything.
- Solo creator or blogger: 2 accounts cost nothing. Five accounts (say Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest) cost $18 a month. Add X and you’re at $24, plus whatever link posts cost.
- Developer building a product: you pay per account your customers connect, and past 100 accounts each extra one is $1. At 1,000 connected customer accounts the whole bill is $1,218.
- Agency: count platforms, not clients. Profiles are free, so one per client costs nothing extra.
- Heavy X publisher: budget the pass-through separately and set a spend cap on day one.
Best for: developers, agencies and AI-agent builders who want one API for posting, inboxes and ads. It also suits anyone who’d rather pay per use than per seat.
Not ideal for: non-technical users who want a finished calendar app. Zernio says it’s built for teams that can make API calls, though it plugs into n8n, Make and Zapier. It’s also a poor fit if you need a fixed annual invoice.
Our recommendation: connect your two most important accounts on the free tier and build your workflow first. You’ll see real usage on the dashboard before the $6 band ever kicks in.
How we checked these numbers (and what we didn’t)
We use Zernio to publish our Instagram carousels. This breakdown, though, isn’t built from our invoice.
Every price comes from Zernio’s official pricing page, its pricing, billing and rate-limit docs, and its terms. All of it was checked September 2026. We ran each example through the published ladder by hand. Competitor prices come from Ayrshare’s and Buffer’s own pricing pages on the same day.
What we didn’t do: stress-test rate limits or run ads through the platform. Usage-based prices move, so check the official page before you commit a client budget.
Frequently asked questions
Is Zernio free to use?
Yes, for your first 2 connected accounts. The free tier has no time limit and needs no credit card, and it includes unlimited posts, analytics, the inbox and full API access. The main limit is 60 API requests a minute, and X API calls or phone numbers still bill from the first use.
What does Zernio pricing come to for 10 accounts?
Ten connected accounts cost $48 a month. The first 2 are free and the next 8 are $6 each. That works out to an average of $4.80 per account, and the rate for accounts 11 to 100 drops to $3 each, so 20 accounts come to $78.
Does Zernio charge per post or per API call?
No. Posts are unlimited on every account, and ordinary API calls cost nothing beyond the account fee. The only per-call charge is X, where Zernio passes through X’s own rates, such as $0.015 per post and $0.20 per post containing a link. Rate limits cap throughput instead of billing it.
What happens if I pass the free message or ad allowance without a card?
Zernio emails you first, at 7,500 messages or 375 live ads. At 10,000 messages, further sends fail until the next month, while reading, analytics and publishing keep working. At 500 live ads, ad syncing and changes stop. With a card on file nothing pauses, and the overage simply meters.
Is Zernio the same company as Late (getlate.dev)?
Yes. Late rebranded to Zernio, and getlate.dev now redirects to zernio.com. The API endpoints, API keys and webhooks stayed the same, and the old SDK packages keep working. Today’s pricing is the usage-based ladder, while older Stripe and AppSumo plans carry on as legacy plans.
Do old Late or AppSumo lifetime plans follow the new pricing?
Not fully. Legacy Stripe and AppSumo plans keep the profile cap they came with. AppSumo lifetime accounts get a flat 600 requests a minute and lower daily caps of 5, 8 or 20 posts per account, and some legacy plans need add-ons before ads or analytics work.
Does disconnecting an account mid-month lower my bill?
Yes. Zernio bills by account-days, so an account connected for 15 days counts as half a month. Reconnecting it later in the month adds its new days back. Be careful when swapping accounts inside a profile, because replacing a connection deletes that slot’s analytics and message history.
Are Zernio prices shown before tax?
Yes. The rates are in US dollars before tax. Zernio estimates tax on your net total after the $12 credit and charges it on top, based on where you’re billed. The billing docs show an example with 21% Spanish VAT added to a $49.40 invoice.
The bottom line
Zernio pricing is about as honest as usage billing gets. You get 2 free accounts, then $6, $3 and $1 as you grow, with every feature on every account.
If you’re a creator or developer, start free and you may never pay. If you run an agency, count every platform connection, ad accounts included, before you quote a client. And if you post links to X, budget for that separate meter.
One warning: the $12 usage credit only covers accounts, never X calls or phone numbers.
Your next step: connect two accounts and build your workflow. Let the Zernio API dashboard show you the real number before you scale.
The Review
Zernio's usage pricing is refreshingly simple: two free accounts, then $6, $3 and $1 per connected account, with every feature included. The trade-off is counting: every platform and ad account bills separately, and X calls sit on their own meter.
