Your episode went out on Tuesday. By Friday it has one post, zero clips and a newsletter you still mean to write.
Here’s the fix. To repurpose a podcast with AI, edit once in Descript. Then feed the finished episode to Castmagic for posts and a newsletter draft, and send video episodes to Klap for vertical clips.
Tight budget? Descript alone covers all three jobs for $16 a month.
The catch is overlap. All three tools clip and write, so most shows need only two.
What does a podcast repurposing workflow look like?
One edited episode feeds four outputs: show notes, social posts, short clips and a newsletter. The order matters more than the tools.
Edit first, because every later tool reads the transcript. A guest’s name misspelled in the raw file turns up misspelled in every caption, post and email.
| Output | Made in | Where it goes | Your edit time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show notes with chapters | Descript | Podcast host, YouTube description | Check names and timestamps |
| Social posts | Castmagic | LinkedIn, X, Instagram captions | Rewrite the first line |
| Vertical clips with captions | Klap or Descript | TikTok, Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn | Pick the best 3 to 5 |
| Newsletter | Castmagic draft, then you | Kit or beehiiv | Rewrite the opening |

Our Descript vs Castmagic comparison pits the two big names against each other. Here they work as a team.
Disclosure: we earn a commission if you buy Descript, Castmagic, Klap, Kit or beehiiv through our links. The picks below don’t change with it.
We haven’t run a full season through this exact stack for this guide. The workflow comes from each tool’s help docs. Prices were checked on the vendors’ own pricing pages on 26 October 2026.
Which tools do you actually need?
Most shows need Descript plus one other tool. Which one depends on what you publish most.
Look at the overlap. Pay for all three and you buy the same features twice:
| Job | Descript | Castmagic | Klap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Edit audio and video | Yes, its core job | No | No |
| Show notes and chapters | Yes | Yes | No |
| Social posts and newsletter drafts | Posts and blog drafts | Yes, its core job | Captions only |
| Vertical video clips | Yes, 1 to 20 per run | Yes, in Studio | Yes, its core job |
| Audiograms for audio-only shows | Waveform layer | Yes, unlimited | No |
| Post clips to social accounts | No | No | Yes, with scheduling |
So your format picks the second tool:
- Video podcast: Descript plus Klap. Klap keeps the speaker in frame and posts straight to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn. On a video show, that’s the job that eats the most hours.
- Audio-only podcast: Descript plus Castmagic. With no faces to frame, words carry the episode. Castmagic’s posts and newsletter drafts do the heavy lifting, and its audiograms cover the visual side.
- One person, small budget: Descript on its own. Its clip and publish tools are less polished than the specialists. They still produce all four outputs on one subscription.

Our Descript review covers the editing side this guide skips.
What does the stack cost for a weekly show?
Repurposing a weekly show costs $16 to $49 a month on annual billing. Pay monthly and Klap roughly doubles, while Descript and Castmagic rise about 50%.
| Setup | Annual billing | Monthly billing | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Descript Hobbyist only | $16/mo | $24/mo | Solo show on a budget |
| Descript + Klap Basic | $30/mo | $53/mo | Video podcast |
| Descript + Castmagic Hobby | $35/mo | $53/mo | Audio-only or writing-first show |
| All three | $49/mo | $82/mo | Team that publishes everywhere |
The newsletter is free at first. Kit’s free plan takes up to 10,000 subscribers, and beehiiv’s takes 2,500.
Now the limits. Take a weekly 50-minute episode recorded in about 70 minutes:
- Descript Hobbyist gives 10 media hours a month. Four raw recordings use about 4.7, which leaves room for a bonus episode.
- Castmagic Hobby includes 30 transcribed hours as a library total, not a monthly refill. Four finished episodes add about 3.3 hours a month, so it fills in roughly nine months. Then you buy hours or move to Starter at $48 a month.
- Klap Basic gives 100 generated clips a month, or 25 per episode. Every clip it generates counts, including the ones you delete.
Here’s the trap with Castmagic’s hours. Upload the raw recording and the edited cut, and you’ve spent your library twice. Send only the finished file. Our Castmagic pricing breakdown shows when Starter or Team pays off.
How to turn one episode into a week of content
Run these six steps once per episode, in this order. Saved prompts and layouts make it quicker after the first few weeks.
Repurpose a podcast episode with AI
Edit once, then let each tool do one job.
-
Step 1 of 6
Edit the episode in Descript
Upload or record it, then run Studio Sound and Remove filler words. Read the transcript and fix names, brands and jargon. Every later step reads this version.
-
Step 2 of 6
Pull show notes from the edit
In the AI Tools panel, open Publish and run Show notes for a summary, chapters and timestamps. Run YouTube description too if the episode goes there.
-
Step 3 of 6
Send the finished file to Castmagic
Upload the exported episode, or connect your show’s RSS feed so new episodes import automatically. Ask for a LinkedIn post, a few short social posts and a newsletter draft.
-
Step 4 of 6
Cut the clips
Video show: paste the YouTube link into Klap, or run Create clips in Descript with a 9:16 layout. Audio-only show: make audiograms in Castmagic’s Studio.
-
Step 5 of 6
Write the newsletter from the draft
Paste Castmagic’s draft into Kit or beehiiv. Rewrite the opening in your voice, add one point the episode didn’t make, and link the episode plus one clip.
-
Step 6 of 6
Spread the clips across the week
Schedule them from Klap, one a day or every other day. Your best clip goes out on release day. The rest wait their turn.
Clips: Descript or Klap?
Use Klap when clips are your main growth channel. Use Descript when they’re a bonus.
Descript’s Create clips makes 1 to 20 clips per run, each 10 seconds to 5 minutes long. Every clip lands as an editable composition, so trimming a weak ending takes seconds. Klap trades that control for speed: link in, captioned and scheduled clips out.
Either way, don’t trust the AI’s ranking blindly. It picks loud moments, and loud isn’t always useful. A clip that makes sense on its own beats a funny one that needs context. Our Klap app review shows how often its picks need fixing.
Audio-only shows need audiograms
No video? Use an audiogram: a still image with a moving waveform and captions. Castmagic makes unlimited audiograms on every plan, and Descript can add a waveform layer to any clip.
Keep them under a minute, with the hook in the first three seconds. Nobody waits for an audiogram to warm up.
The newsletter isn’t the show notes
Show notes tell a listener what’s in the episode. A newsletter tells a reader why it matters this week.
Treat Castmagic’s draft as raw material. Open with the one idea you’d text a friend about. Add a link or example the episode didn’t include, then send people to listen.
Kit‘s free plan is the roomier start. beehiiv can also host the podcast itself, which our beehiiv review walks through.
Mistakes that make repurposed content look automated
- Clipping the raw recording. Your clips pick up the false starts and the bit you cut for a reason. Clip the edit.
- Posting AI drafts unedited. AI drafts share a house style that regular readers learn to spot. At minimum, rewrite the first line of every post yourself.
- Forgetting the guest. Send your guest two clips and the LinkedIn post. People share content that makes them look good, and that puts the episode in front of their audience too.
Which setup fits your show?
Match the stack to how your audience finds you, not to the longest feature list.
- Solo creator, video podcast: Descript plus Klap Basic, $30 a month billed yearly. New listeners find video shows through Shorts and Reels.
- Interview show, audio only: Descript plus Castmagic Hobby, because guest quotes on LinkedIn travel further than audiograms.
- B2B or consultant podcast: Descript plus Castmagic, with most of your effort on the newsletter. Your buyers read email. They rarely scroll TikTok.
- Agency with several client shows: Castmagic Team for 400 hours and a separate space per client, plus Descript seats for the editors.

Frequently asked questions
Can I repurpose old podcast episodes, not just new ones?
Yes, and your back catalogue is often the best place to start, because you already know which episodes did well. Castmagic imports from RSS and Apple Podcasts. Each import counts toward your transcribed hours, so 100 episodes of 45 minutes is 75 hours. Start with your top ten.
Do I need my guest’s permission to clip their interview?
Ask before you record. Most guests expect clips, and one line in your booking email covering clips, quotes and the newsletter prevents an awkward takedown request later. Using a guest’s words in a paid ad is different. Get separate written permission for that.
Will AI-written show notes hurt my podcast’s SEO?
Not because AI drafted them. The risk is dozens of episode pages with the same vague summary. Edit each draft so it names the guest, lists the tools or books mentioned and states one takeaway. That makes the page useful to a searcher, which is what ranks.
How many clips should I post from one episode?
Three to five strong clips beat twenty average ones, because ten clips in one week hit the same followers ten times. Check which topics people watched to the end, not just clicked, and steer next week’s clip prompt toward those topics.
Can I automate the whole podcast repurposing workflow?
Most of it. Castmagic can import every new episode from your RSS feed, and Klap connects to Zapier, Make and n8n. Keep two human checks: the transcript fix in Descript and a read-through before anything posts. Skip them and a misheard guest name ends up on LinkedIn.
Does this work for a Hindi podcast?
Mostly. Descript transcribes 25 languages including Hindi, Castmagic supports 60-plus and Klap 52, Hindi among them. Episodes that switch between Hindi and English mid-sentence are the hard case. Test one full episode on Descript’s free plan and Klap’s free video before paying for a year.
Is a general AI chatbot enough instead of Castmagic?
For one weekly show, it can be. Paste Descript’s transcript into a chatbot with a saved prompt and you’ll get usable posts. Castmagic earns its $19 a month with RSS autopilot, a searchable library of every episode and saved prompts, or when several people work on the same show.
Edit once, then let each tool do one job
The rule for repurposing a podcast with AI is simple: every output starts from the edited episode. Use Descript for the edit and show notes. Add Klap for a video show or Castmagic if your audience reads, and write the newsletter opening yourself.
One warning: the tools overlap, so a third subscription rarely earns its keep. Your next step is to run next week’s episode through Descript’s free plan and see which outputs you’d actually post.
