10 Ways to Maximize Your iPhone X

If you shelled out $1,000 or more get your hands on an iPhone X, you’d be glad to know that Apples’ flagship comes with some neat tricks to give you more bang for your buck.

iPhone X hacks are helpful in improving the performance and functionality of your mobile device, so it pays to know every possible way to maximize your iPhone X.

In this post, we’ll share tips, tricks, and hacks for optimum iPhone X use.

On battery use

  1. You won’t find the battery percentage on the status bar of the iPhone X—thanks or no thanks to the all-screen design of the phone.

To show how much battery charge is left on your iPhone X, you need to launch the Control Center. Simply make a swipe down gesture from the upper-right side of the notch, and you’ll see the battery percentage, as well as the Control Center.

  1. While Apple promised 50% of battery charge using its wireless charging feature, it just doesn’t happen unless you go for turbo charge via a USB-C connection. Thus, it’s worth investing in a USB-C to Lightning cable and a power device with a USB-C port.
  2. You can add more life to your battery by turning on the Smart invert Colors and Grayscale options on your iPhone X’s display settings.

These two color modes work similarly to a dark mode, which makes for less power consumption and more juice for your iPhone X.

On the absence of a Home button

  1. To wake up the display of your iPhone X, just tap anywhere on your phone’s OLED screen and you’ll instantly see all your notifications. You could also click the Side button once to lock or wake your screen.

Although you’re only able to see notification previews when your iPhone X is unlocked, you can modify this setting for all apps or selected ones only.

Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews. Choose from Always, When Unlocked, or Never.

  1. If you’re trying to take a screenshot on your phone, you need to make a quick press of the Side button – this used to be the Power button on the iPhone 6 to iPhone 8 iterations – and the Volume Up buttons together.
  2. To go back to the Home screen from the app currently in use, make a swipe up motion from the bottom of the screen and then release to see the App Switcher.

For quicker access to the App Switcher, swipe up and over to form an upside-down “L” shape, and the app cards will instantly pop into view.

On using Face ID

  1. The Face ID technology can be configured to control certain features of the iPhone X such as iTunes and App Store purchases, banking apps, or Safari AutoFill. To turn on Face ID, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.

By default, Face ID’s Attention-Awareness feature is on. This means Face ID needs you to pay attention to your screen when you’re trying to activate the feature to show your saved facial profile. To turn off Attention Aware, follow the same step described above and toggle off the “Require attention for Face ID.”

Alternatively, you could make five quick presses on the Side button to turn off Face ID and switch to your default passcode to secure your phone.

  1. To buy apps using Face ID, hit the “Get” button on the App Store and double-click the Side button to launch Face ID.

On using the iPhone X camera, Siri, etc.

  1. You can now record video at 4k 60fps, but you’ll need to turn it on since it’s not the default setting.

Go to Settings > Camera > Record Video. Change 1080p 30fps to 4k 60fps.

  1. Activate Siri by pressing and holding down the button on the right side of the iPhone X.

With these tips and tricks, you’ll certainly get the most of your prized smartphone.
