WhatsApp had started testing two features specifically as “Mark as Read” and “Mute” button. These features will help the users to make it easier for taking actions without opening up the application. Many WhatsAppians were actually excited about this. The mute feature will let the users mute the chat right from the notification panel. However, it will trigger when you will receive like more than 51 messages from a chat.

Mute the chat feature for WhatsApp is live for those who have latest WhatsApp Beta Version installed on their smartphone. For the “Mark as Read”, it is not live yet even for the Beta version.
With “mark as read” feature, one will be able to mark the received message as read, right from the notification shade.
Apart from that WhatsApp indicated that they are planning to roll out sticker feature too that you have already seen in the applications like hike or Snapchat.
